SeaTac International Airport Centralized Pre-Conditioned Air

Seattle, WA

Beginning in 2014, Port of Seattle’s new centralized pre-conditioned HVAC system will provide warm or cool air to jets standing at each of the 73 gates at SeaTac International Airport. The jets will shut down their jet engines while docked at the loading gates, resulting in improved passenger comfort, and reduced air pollution and jet fuel consumption.

Elcon’s electrical design includes:

  • New 15kV – feeders to supply the new PCA Plant.
  • 480 V feeders to two new 1250HP chillers in existing Central Mechanical Plant.
  • Six new satellite-pumping stations for hot water/glycol sourced from existing steam loop.
  • Upgrades and modifications at 72 gates to accommodate new PCA Units.
  • Equipment connections, lighting improvements, office relocations and miscellaneous other work association with construction of the new PCA Plant in the Central Terminal Basement
