PaTu Wind Farm

The PáTu Wind Farm is a 10-megawatt community wind farm located near the town of Wasco in north central Oregon. The wind farm consists of six 1.5 MW GE wind turbine generators. PáTu Wind Farm generates about 31 million kWh of electricity annually.

Wind generation is delivered at a tap point on the Wasco Electric Cooperative (WEC) 115kV line from BPA’s Demoss Substation.

Elcon’s responsibility included:

  • Worked jointly with the Portland General Distribution Services and coordinated closely with WASCO and BPA to complete project tasks.
  • Conducted engineering and studies to meet WASCO, BPA and customer requirements.
  • Completed design effort involving civil, structural and electrical construction, and installation activities for the point of interconnection substation.
  • Prepared equipment and construction specifications and assisted customer with the procurement process.
  • Designed the control and protection scheme, SCADA and communications interface facilities.
