Serving one of the most densely populated areas of Los Angeles County, the extension connects directly with the Metro Gold Line to the Pasadena system, creating a system nearly 20 miles long. Total trip time from the last station in East Los Angeles to Union Station is about 17 minutes.
Elcon was responsible for system design management and 60 percent design for the train control, communications, systems ductbank design, tunnel 34.5kV distribution system, fire alarm, intrusion detection, portal CCTV surveillance system, gas monitoring, seismic detection, and facilities and emergency management system (EMS).
Elcon was also responsible for developing the System Interface Management Plan, System Integration, Testing and Acceptance Plan, and System Assurance Plan. Elcon was responsible for Civil Systems Integration during the 60 percent design.
